On the Greek island of Kefallonia there are many companies that offer car rental. Some of these are large international organisations, whilst others are one man operations. The large companies are generally more expensive, the smallest operators tend to have rather older, basic cars. We have an arrangement with a long-established local car-hire business who have one of their offices in the village square of Lourdata: Neptune Car & Motorcycle Rentals. See Village Map for location. (The other office is in Argostoli, opposite the Port Authority.)

Almost all the car fleet was new for 2008.
The smallest car is the new Chevrolet
Matiz with air
conditioning,
ABS, new trim standards and audio system.
Also available is the Chevrolet Matiz
Topless
(the same car, but with a slide-back fabric roof).
The Chevrolet Lacetti is a new model with climate control, ABS, central locking, electric mirrors, etc.
The Suzuki Jimny jeeps were new for 2008, now with ABS.
The YMC Buggy
was the latest addition for 2008. It is an automatic, with a
water-cooled engine and disc brakes all round.
It has proved very popular.
The hire charges include fully comprehensive insurance and also included is breakdown recovery.
The oldest cars in the fleet were new in 2007.
All the cars are serviced to a regular schedule.
Prices for car hire are shown in the following tables. (There will be a 5% discount for cars booked in advance)

Rates for longer periods of hire can be negotiated.
By prior arrangement, cars can be collected at the airport, at no extra cost.
For those who are experienced and have the appropriate licence, motorcycles and scooters are available for hire. (The insurance for these is, of course, third-party only.)
Do not forget to bring your driving licence if you wish to hire a car or motorcycle. Should you forget it, you can telephone DVLA and they will Fax the details - but this is hassle you can do without when on holiday!
If you have had a long journey and are unfamiliar with the island you may find it easier to be met at the airport by a taxi and collect your hire car in the village.
